I was an immediate fan of the original Torchlight, with its Diablo style action and quirky graphics. It would run great on any system under 3 years old, and still managed to look good. Its only downfall was the lack of Co-op, which would have made it the best game ever made (slight exaggeration).
That is going to change with Torchlight 2. Coming with more surface gaming, instead of just the deep and ominous caverns from the past. Additionally they have said it will haveĀ “weather, time of day cycles, and random events” making the surface levels even more dynamic.
Pinned to be a downloadable title by Spring 2011, Runic must be working feverishly, especially considering they are also planning on making Torchlight the MMO. If they keep the price down and add interest multi-player options, this will surely be a well deserved update to an already fun game.

Blizzard, also known as the company that prints money, have struck gold again with StarCraft 2. 48 hours is all it has taken for Blizzard to move a hefty 1.5million copies. If they can keep up the rate of sale then hitting StarCraft’s 11 million sales will be easy.
While Blizzard might have sold a lot, the game did cost a lot to make and the developers put a ton of effort into the game. I haven’t brought a copy yet, but as soon as that baby goes on special I will be first in line.

Another reason to buy an Android device is the release of a handy little app titled PSX4Droid. For $6 and half a brain, you will soon be rolling in Playstation games on your handset. All we need now is a Bluetooth driver for a PS3 controller and it would be an unbeatable portable gaming experience.

As you probably know, I am extremely excited about DeathSpank. It offers mad loot for people with the Diablo mindset, plus some comedy that made Monkey Island so great. Released yesterday to most the world, DeathSpank has received some great reviews.
Check out MetaReview for a large listing of very positive reviews. Congratulations Hothead games on an awesome game.

The last few months of PS3 rumors, regarding the model refresh, seems to be true. While Microsoft is going Black with the new 360, Sony is going white. The spec’s are the same, except now there is going to be a 320GB option.
Starting July 29th, the 160GB and 320GB white PS3′s will go on sale in Japan for $340USD and $400USD respectively.

Sony finally seem to really be pushing content to its underrated PlayStation Portable platform. Sony has another trick up its sleeve with the introduction of DC Comics to the already large catalogue of comics available.
For DC fans there are now over 1600 DC flavoured comics available, with more en-route. It is great that Sony is filling the PSP platform with content, but this really should have happened years ago. At least it will set a much greater stage for the PSP2.

Congratulations Sony on discovering that gamers want a free MMO. Free Realms has achieved a massive 12 million registered players. While that doesn’t mean that those accounts are active, that is still a very large number.
While Free Realms is no WoW, it does have its strength’s. With a ton of content being added all the time, and plenty of special events to join in, it is quite a good deal. While saying 12 million people have signed up for a free account, it would be nice to know if Sony is actually making any money out of this.

The Nintendo 3DS has been rumored for a couple of months, but at E3 2010 it has become really real. It has the rumored 3D screen that doesn’t require glasses, what looks like a joystick and graphics that is supposedly around Wii quality.
The 3DS has a similar form factor to the DS, but with a much larger top screen (3.5inch). It features a touch pad down the bottom, and now features a built-in gyroscope and motion sensor for another form of game control.
It will also be able to record and take 3D photos with the dual cameras on the outside of the case, plus as an added bonus it will be able to play back 3D movies (whether there will be a media store or not is still up in the air).
No pricing or release date has been set, but seeing as it is now out in the open, it can’t be that far away.

Xbox 360 has just evolved to a much more compelling device. All the things that people argued should have been available from release are now pretty much added (a couple of years late).
From built in wireless (wireless N), large 250gb hdd and much smaller physical size (including a smaller and lighter power brick). All this and the console is also quieter then the old (because it now has 1 large fan instead of the old 2 smaller fans).
While it will still play all the same old games in the same familiar way, it is does it will a tad more style (and with a built in HDMI port). They are shipping to retailers as we speak and will be priced at around the old Elite pricing (or around the same as the PS3).

Sony released a patch for the PS3 last month that removed OtherOS but added the ability to have 3D games. Unfortunately at the time there were no 3D games so everyone focused on the negative (the loss of OtherOS). This is about to change in Japan with 3D games coming this month.
Bravia promotion. Super Stardust HD, Pain, and WipeOut HD will all receive a 3D patch on the 10th of June, and as a bonus they will cost you money! So not only did you just fork out way to much for a 3D TV, but you got to now pay a little bit extra for those 3D games that you already brought!
