The Maxian E900T Looks Great, If You’re In Korea

Maxian E900TIt seems to be that all portable electronic companies are trying to make the perfect all-in-one media device. You want to be able to play movies and music, read ebooks, get direction via GPS, watch TV and backup information off memory cards (like photo’s and things). The upcoming Maxian E900T will be able to do everything listed above (and probably a lot more).
It runs the Windows CE operating environment and features a 4.3″ touch screen with an 800 x 480 resolution, 720p high-def video and DTS surround sound output (via a Burr-Brown processing circuitry) plus a DMB television receiver (which handles Korea’s digital over-the-air television signals). For storage you have the choice of either a 30GB or 60GB (get with the times, its now 80 or 160) plus both feature a SD/MMC card slot. There is also the option to get a docking station that adds a attachment arm and GPS for navigating yourself around on the road.
If it had wireless and a web browser, it would be a UMPC. Seeing it will probably be focused more at the PMP market, it will blow away any of its current competitors. Unfortunately you will never see it leave the sandy shores of Korea (unless you get someone to export you one).

High Definition Camcorder On A Budget

Posted: November 10th, 2007 | Author: Daniel Georges | Filed under: Technology | Tags: , , , , , , , | 3 Comments »

Aiptek HD CameraEveryone wants their HD (High Definition) video camera, but if you are still using an analogue hi8 camera of old, which you picked up in a repair shop for $50, then Aiptek may give you back some of your street cred (like you had any). The Aiptek A-HD 720P may not give you the most high quality of video, but to get HD for under $US150 can’t be a bad thing at all.
What you do get for that price is a CMOS run 5 Megapixel camcorder, with the ability to video at 720P (1280 x 720). It features 2.4″ swivel LCD, HDTV component output, re deye reduction, SD Slot (no tapes or HDD sorry), 2X digital zoom (yucky) and can be charged through USB (and AC adapter). It records in H.264 Video @30fps and can apparently work as a PVR (personal video recorder), making it capable of connecting to TV/VCR/DVD player to record video, pictures and audio.
It isn’t the end all of budget video cameras, and I would seriously recommend spending a little more cash and getting something a hell of a lot better. I must say though, with Christmas coming up, a $150 stocking filler for the kids may come in handy (because they will break it the next day).
