RIM Lights Torch To Brighten Bland Blackberry

RIM have today announced their latest and greatest Blackberry, the 9800 AKA Torch. The device looks similar to the Palm Pre, but seems to feature a better build quality and keyboard (from early reports). The biggest change coming is the introduction of OS6, which will feature a better looking UI as well as a web browser that actually works.
Tech sites are on both sides of the fence, with BGR predicting underwhelming failure and Laptop Mag believe it is a worthy evolution but only for current Blackberry owners. I believe the new Torch will be impressive, with some hardware specs like camera and screen size getting a boost over the other keyboard focused Blackberry’s.  I also like the idea of an OS that feels newer with a better web browser. In the end though, at least until a few final hardware reviews come out, I believe it’s an underwhelming release from RIM and with it priced along side other premium handsets it is going to be a hard sell.
If you are a fan of the new design you will should be able to get your hands on one on the 12 of August for $199USD 24 month contract.

BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slides Into Reality

RIM, hands down, make the best smartphone keyboard. The worst touch screen smartphones, but the best keyboards. The 9800 is RIM’s 3rd attempt to do touch screens right and this time they may have a real chance. First they are using a new OS that is mostly designed to be touched. Second they got rid of the stupid click screen. Lastly they slapped a physical keyboard for when touch isn’t enough. It is pretty much the best of both worlds (in theory).
While there is no official information regarding the hardware, it sure does look enticing. I highly recommend jumping over to Engadget for some quality images of what could be the best BlackBerry yet.

NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 Big And Fast

It seems the GX2 has skipped a generation, landing in the 9 series Geforce’s instead of the current 8 series. Imagine if you took two 8800′s fabricated on the 65nm design (think 8800GT) and slapped together on a beastly PCIeX card. What you get is a card that should be 30% faster then a 8800 Ultra, with the option of running in Quad SLI for even more speed (maybe even Hex SLI?). Should really have been called the 8800 GX2, but who really cares?
