Samsung LCDCan you go past a 26-inch LCD with a 1920 x 1200 resolution, 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 5ms response time and a DTV tuner option? With the attractive look of the Samsung T260, this is one display I will keep my eyes on (literary).
The screen will also have a couple of smaller brothers (or sisters), which are a 24-incher and 19-incher. All the screen will come with DVI, HDMI and D-sub. No price as yet, but that should be available further down this month.

Titled the G35 chipset, it is the latest offering from Intel and will be the first integrated motherboard to support DirectX 10. The first motherboard to feature this technology will be the Asus P5E-VM HDMI. The graphics chipset that will power this is called the GMA X3500 (up from the X3000), and will feature HDMI with HDCP support with output of up to 1920×1200 (and 2048×1536 under normal circumstances). Can’t wait to see what the benchmark gets on this one.

Sony HVR-Z7UThis isn’t the sort of thing the average consumer would have at home. Everyone has that uncle John who loves his video cameras and owns one that he brings along to every birthday party, but for the rest of us it isn’t really in our price range. The new Sony HDV isn’t going to change that with two flavors coming in at $US6,850 (HVR-Z7U) and the more powerful HVR-S270U for $US10,500.
The HVR-Z7U is quite a camera with interchangeable Carl Zeiss lenses, Sony’s 1/3-inch ClearVid CMOS sensor that offers 1.5 lux sensitivity, 24p and 30p modes, and support for recording directly to CompactFlash or an optional hard-disk recording attachment. It also features MiniDV and HDMI output.
The HVR-S270U has all the same features plus a bunch of extra things (you would hope so for a extra couple of thousand). The extras include HD- or SD-SDI output and can also take full-size DVCAM tapes.
Both cameras will be available in February, just a little to late to be a stocking filler.

BENQ G2400WLooking for a 24″ LCD but don’t want to spend too much, and wouldn’t mind a HDMI port? Seems Benq has got your back covered with their upcoming G2400W 24-inch WUXGA LCD. It does 250cd/m2, contrast ratio of 1000:1, DVI-D  with HDCP and a single HDMI port. The best part of this product is the $EU360 (around $US515) price tag, which means it will come in a tad cheaper then your Dell screen.

Dell XPS M1530We had a little view of the M1730 before its recent release and now we have gotten wind of another new notebook for the ever growing XPS range of Dell’s. This will be a little smaller and a hell of a lot lighter then the 1730, with a 15-4-inch screen and slot loading DVD/Blu-Ray Drive.
Unfortunately this model won’t support dual video processors, but it will come with a choice of 2 decent nVidia’s as long as you don’t expect to play to many new games on them. The choices will be either a GeForce 8400M or 8600M GS with up to 256MB of video ram.
Otherwise it is standard affair with a 15.4-inch screen with either a CCFL up to 1680 x 1050 or LED up to 1440 x 900, Intel Core 2 Duo 1.5 - 2.6 GHz (T5250 to T7800), options for 802.11a/b/g/n, WWAN, Bluetooth, finger print reader, built-in webcam and a HDMI port (I will report this until it is standard). It will apparently weigh 4 pounds, but will wait for final word before seeing that as feasible in such a feature rich notebook. No price yet, but should be announced on November 7th.

JVC LCDJVC Australia announced on the 24Th of this month (September for people who don’t get out much) 2 brand spanking new True HD LCD’s. The 2 flavours are LT-46FZD7 which is a 46-inch and the smaller LT-42FZD7 being a 42-inch.
Both screen include a DVB-T Tuner, with the best part being their resolutions of 1920 x1080. Other features include a response of 10ms, viewing angle of 178/178 (degrees), brightness of 500cd/m2, Picture-In-Picture (PIP), 2 x 10w inbuilt speakers and 2 HDMI inputs. One thing I question, that hopefully one of my faithful readers (sorry I should have said my 1 faithful reader) can answer is why only a contrast ratio of 1:1500? Doesn’t the new ViewSonic’s have a 1:2000?
They are set for an October release and priced at $AU4399 for the LT-46FZD7 and $AU3599 for the LT-42FZD7. If the nice people at JVC get this and feel like sending me a free one (either is good), I will accept willingly.

Toshiba x205Hot on the heals of the new of the Dell XPS SLi notebook, we have the news of the two new Toshiba X205 notebooks. There are 2 models on the table currently, with X205-SLI1 and X205-SLI3 both running dual Nvidia 8600M GT’s (a little less powerful then the 8700’s in the Dell).
As well as the dual video card goodness you also get a Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 (SLi1) to T7500 (SLi3), 2GB DDR2 RAM, 17-inch WXGA+ (SLi1) or WSXGA+ (SLi3), 240GB to 320GB, HD DVD-ROM/DVD SuperMulti, Bluetooth® V2.0 + EDR, wireless 802.11a/g/n and HDMI output port. All this can be your for between $US1999 and $US2499, making it cheaper then the Dell as well.
This is a definate desktop replacement, weighing in at a heavy 9.37 lbs. You won’t be carrying this guy very far, unless you are Heman. Unfortunately they still have that stupid numpad that makes the keyboard tiny. If you are still interested, then you can already order it from the Toshiba website.

For direct links to the notebooks, click here for the SL1 and here for the SL3.
