HP Envy 14 Get Engadgets Thumbs Up

Posted: August 5th, 2010 | Author: Daniel Georges | Filed under: Technology | Tags: , , , , , | No Comments »

The HP Envy 14 has always intrigued me. On paper it is so incredibly great it makes me wonder how the hell HP came up with it instead of someone like Sony or Asus. Engadget have had a chance to run it through the paces and have found some interesting facts.
The Envy 14 is a definitely evolution of the old 15, coming in at almost the same size and only shaving a little bit of weight off. Otherwise it fixes the majority of issues, and has even got one of the best keyboards around according to Engadget. If you are interested in the notebook, I would definitely jump over for a very positive review.

Toshiba’s New R705 Ultralight Gets Reviewed

Posted: July 13th, 2010 | Author: Daniel Georges | Filed under: Technology | Tags: , , , , , , | No Comments »

The Toshiba Portege R705 has been given the deep review treatment by Engadget, and they liked it. The Portege R705 is currently the lightest laptop on the market that uses full notebook processors instead of the low power versions. To make things better, the R705 can be found for under $1000USD at your local BestBuy.
While Engadget did like the weight and construction, they did notice that the laptop did get warm. If you are after a powerful yet light laptop, the new Toshiba might be right up your alley.

Engadget Make Lengthy iPhone 4 Review

Posted: June 23rd, 2010 | Author: Daniel Georges | Filed under: Technology | Tags: , , , | No Comments »

Engadget have done a extremely long iPhone 4 review, which doesn’t get very technical. They love the device (of course) and found the battery to be surprisingly good. Unfortunately, Engadget is happy with 38 hours of general use. This means you will still have to charge every 2 days or every day with heavy use.
Other then the battery everything else seems pretty damn good. I am normally anti-Apple, but I have to say the iPhone 4 is a truly flash device (without Flash of course). If only it was priced reasonable.

Jump over to Engadget for the long winded review.

Super AMOLED Vs LCD In Sunlight. Fight!

Posted: June 21st, 2010 | Author: Daniel Georges | Filed under: Technology | Tags: , , , , , | No Comments »

Techblog have been kind enough to test Super AMOLED vs AMOLED vs LCD in direct sunlight. People who are worried that the Samsung Super AMOLED will perform worse then a LCD in sunlight should no longer worry. Seems they are very similar (both equally as bad as each other).

GTX 480M King Of Mobile Performance

Posted: June 18th, 2010 | Author: Daniel Georges | Filed under: Technology | Tags: , , , , , , | No Comments »

NVidia announced the Geforce GTX 480M a few months ago, saying it was going to be the fast mobile GPU yet. They were right according to Notebook Check, who believe that it is the new king beating the old king, the ATI 5870, by around 9% in gaming tests.
It is also the first 100w card, so don’t expect untethered MW2. The king is dead, long live the king.

Sony Ericssons Little Xperia Gets Reviewed

Posted: June 17th, 2010 | Author: Daniel Georges | Filed under: Technology | Tags: , , , , , | No Comments »

TechRadar have gotten their greedy hands on the new Sony Ericsson X10 Mini, the little Android phone that could. The X10 Mini is only similar to its much larger brother in looks. The device itself has a much lower resolution screen and a 600mhz processor.
TechRadar seemed to like the device and were surprised at its snappiness (especially after comparing the the X10). To put it simply, you get a lot of phone for not a whole lot of money. If you are interested the review is definitely worth reading.

Dell Streak Engadget Review

Posted: June 7th, 2010 | Author: Daniel Georges | Filed under: Technology | Tags: , , , , | No Comments »

Less a smartphone and more a tablet, the Dell Streak is a curiosity. On one hand you have an ultra-powerful handheld with a nice big screen, and the other a impractically niche device. It is one of those devices you want, but can’t imagine a way you could use it.
The review is large and awesome, with lots of good information and a couple of videos. Ultimately they said it is a large smartphone, and while some people will ask you if it is a tablet, they did say that it passed the pocket size test. If you don’t mind the heft, this could be the most interesting smartphone on the market.

Gizmodo Review Killer HTC Evo 4G

Posted: June 4th, 2010 | Author: Daniel Georges | Filed under: Transport | Tags: , , , , , | No Comments »

One of the most anticipated smartphones of the last couple of months has been the HTC Evo 4G. It has caused many Linux geek wet dreams, and today Gizmodo have gotten their dirty hands on a unit to play with.

Basically they were happy with the specs but surprised on how big it is. They liked the mobile network, but didn’t like the battery life.  If you want the most technology advanced phone on the market and live in an area where you can take complete advantage of the 4G network, then look no further. Otherwise wait for the iPhone 4G (thats what Gizmodo was thinking, I know it!).

Gizmodo Review HTC HD Mini, Find It Lacking

Posted: April 14th, 2010 | Author: Daniel Georges | Filed under: Technology | Tags: , , , , , | No Comments »

The guys at Gizmodo have gotten their greasy hands on a HTC HD Mini and given it a quick and reasonably thorough review. What did they like? Hardware is up to the usual HTC high standard (please buy Palm and make their hardware good!) but as usual Windows Mobile 6.5.3 feels as old as it is. Ultimately, it would be like recommending a 1st Gen iPhone when you know there won’t be any updates coming to it any more.
Something to remember is that while it has Mini in its title the HD Mini is anything but. With a 3.2 inch screen, it would be similar size to a Blackberry Storm (3.25 inch). If you are still interested in that size and like the ability to install applications of your choosing, then jump over and check out the review.
