BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slides Into Reality

Posted: June 5th, 2010 | Author: Daniel Georges | Filed under: Technology | Tags: , , , , | No Comments »

RIM, hands down, make the best smartphone keyboard. The worst touch screen smartphones, but the best keyboards. The 9800 is RIM’s 3rd attempt to do touch screens right and this time they may have a real chance. First they are using a new OS that is mostly designed to be touched. Second they got rid of the stupid click screen. Lastly they slapped a physical keyboard for when touch isn’t enough. It is pretty much the best of both worlds (in theory).
While there is no official information regarding the hardware, it sure does look enticing. I highly recommend jumping over to Engadget for some quality images of what could be the best BlackBerry yet.

The Maxian E900T Looks Great, If You’re In Korea

Posted: January 2nd, 2008 | Author: Daniel Georges | Filed under: Technology | Tags: , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

Maxian E900TIt seems to be that all portable electronic companies are trying to make the perfect all-in-one media device. You want to be able to play movies and music, read ebooks, get direction via GPS, watch TV and backup information off memory cards (like photo’s and things). The upcoming Maxian E900T will be able to do everything listed above (and probably a lot more).
It runs the Windows CE operating environment and features a 4.3″ touch screen with an 800 x 480 resolution, 720p high-def video and DTS surround sound output (via a Burr-Brown processing circuitry) plus a DMB television receiver (which handles Korea’s digital over-the-air television signals). For storage you have the choice of either a 30GB or 60GB (get with the times, its now 80 or 160) plus both feature a SD/MMC card slot. There is also the option to get a docking station that adds a attachment arm and GPS for navigating yourself around on the road.
If it had wireless and a web browser, it would be a UMPC. Seeing it will probably be focused more at the PMP market, it will blow away any of its current competitors. Unfortunately you will never see it leave the sandy shores of Korea (unless you get someone to export you one).

iRiver Touch Screen For Rest Of The World?

Posted: December 11th, 2007 | Author: Daniel Georges | Filed under: Technology | Tags: , , | No Comments »

Small iRiver LogoHave you noticed that in all the iRiver product shots of their newly released W7, the interface is almost completely in English? Wouldn’t that make it possible for iRiver to release a similar device for the rest of the world? With the Samsung P2, iPod Touch, Cowon Q5 and Archos 605, wouldn’t it make sense if iRiver went along the same route? It is just a thought I have had, but I could bet you anything (except my pants, I believe I may need them), that you will hear of some secret iRiver touchscreen announcement fairly soon.

The Awesome But Unusual Samsung P2 Dock

Posted: December 9th, 2007 | Author: Daniel Georges | Filed under: Technology | Tags: , , , , , , , , | 4 Comments »

Samsung P2 CradleSamsung have surprised me with the recently announced docking station for there infamous P2 PMP. The little station adds 4 new abilities to the player which include Wi-Fi, MicroSD, FM transmitter, and even a built in speaker. Not much else is known, but expect more when CES comes our way. If the WiFi and MicroSD are implemented properly, this could make the P2 a very kick arse product.

More info at AnythingButiPod.

Update: The Dock is so damn fake, and people keep reminding me. It would have been nice, but it seems a no go.
