MeeGo 1.01 is now available for all the brave souls who have switched their netbooks over to the new OS. Nothing new has been added to the minor patch, but the team has hammered out some problems and increased performance. It is great to see that MeeGo is actually being proved at an active rate. Congratulations MeeGo team, and can’t wait to see what comes next.

The biggest complaint to date with Facetime is its inability to work over 3G networks. While this hasn’t changed, Apple did something very unusual. They approved an update for Fring that does video chat over 3G. For people who don’t know what Fring is, it is a Skype competitor to a degree. It focuses more on mobile handsets, and already has a large fan base on Android (and on the iPhone).
What does it mean for Facetime when you can now get an application that can do what Facetime can do but with less restriction and an already larger user base? Is Chrome for iPhone next?

Come December the 2nd and the Xbox 360 will be able to do what both the Wii and PS3 have been able to do for months. The 360 will get a dashboard update that will allow it to download and play Xbox 1 games. The games currently announced are Fable, Indigo Prophecy, Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex, Burnout 3, and Halo: Combat Evolved.
The advantage that Microsoft has is that the Xbox 1 is a lot newer console when compared to the PS1 games you can get for the PS3 and the N64 and older you can get for the Wii. That also touches another problem though. The Xbox 1 had a DVD drive, so games were relatively large compared to the older generation consoles. This means you been have very fast internet and the Elite model (for the 120GB storage) or you may be up the creek. I guess in the end the deal breaker will be the price it costs to to buy the games.

Here are some numbers of the Playstation 2 AKA PS2. It was announced in 1999, and was then released in 2000 which saw it sell 900,000 copies in the first weekend (in Japan of course). It is the fastest console ever to reach a 100 million units sold, and is currently sitting around the 120 million mark. With those numbers it doesn’t come as a surprise that Sony have done yet another refresh on the product.
The new PS2, which gets the model number SCPH-90000, and will feature a internal AC adapter, making it easier to take around with you, plus it is lighter while staying the same size as the current modell. Even though it isn’t ground breaking, it is nice to see Sony improving on such an old product and keeping the loyal fans happy.
The price of the new PS2, despite rumor of a $US99 price point, will retail for the same price as the current PS2 ($US140). It will launch November 22 and will come in three delightful colours, which are Charcoal Black”, “Ceramic White” and “Satin Silver”. I’m still waiting for the magical $US99 price point before getting into the slightly retro gaming market.
